Helier and Sophie offer seed sowing courses throughout the year for both total beginners and gardeners with experience. Sowing in a social online group helps to develop a community of growers who help each other.
The course content is online but what makes these courses different is that growers join a private, community Facebook group. In the group, Helier and Sophie hold live and video sessions where growers can sow along with them. If the class times aren't convenient, no problem! Classes are recorded enabling growers to watch them as many times as they like in the comfort of their own home. Helier and Sophie really do 'hold your hand' as growers are encouraged to ask questions - no question is too small! Growers can post photos in the group and get to know their fellow growers. It really is a lovely and supportive way to sow and grow seeds!
Sophie and Helier are so natural and come at it from a normal gardeners point of view rather than a flower farmer.. Its been helpful going over the basics, and there have been so many hints and tips that have been worth while. Being able to watch the sessions at any time has also been useful. I have especially enjoyed seeing your seedlings and other peoples that have posted (in the group). Thank you!
Before I started this course I had never even heard of a biennial. Now, I understand what they are and have lots of seedlings! Due to the weather this has not been an easy time to grow but Helier & Sophie have been very responsive to questions and came up with some useful suggestions on what to do differently. The Facebook lives have been very easy to follow and its great to be able to watch them again if needed. The sessions have been well spaced out covering all aspects from sowing to planting out, so next year I'm hoping for a blooming garden even earlier!
Your notes are all very clear and comprehensive but the big plus for me in following a course like this are the lives and pictures, actually seeing you do things and then seeing the seedlings grow. Both of you explain well and are inspiring. The course would be great for a complete beginner but also for those like me that have some experience of growing from seed but are always willing to learn and are motivated by a grow along. Being able to ask questions and see those from others plus the replies is valuable too.
